About Me

Dr Jason Roth (MED0001185485) — Specialist Otolaryngologist & Head and Neck Surgeon, specialist registration in Otorhinolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery.

Dr Jason Roth — Specialist Otolaryngologist & Head and Neck Surgeon, Sydney

Dr Jason Roth (MED0001185485) is a Specialist Otolaryngologist and Head and Neck Surgeon with a particular interest in facial plastic surgery — including rhinoplasty, facelift, neck lift, and brow lift. He has completed both rhinology and facial plastic surgery fellowship training, holds the International Board Certification in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and has been operating in private practice in Sydney for more than 15 years.

Dr Roth has a focused and limited scope of practice, operating exclusively on the nose, face, neck, and ears. He also sees paediatric and adult patients with general ENT conditions including ear, nose, and sinus problems. He consults from his clinic in Dee Why and operates at several accredited private hospitals across Sydney.

In recent years, Dr Roth has taken a particular interest in preservation rhinoplasty techniques — attending the inaugural Preservation Rhinoplasty Conference in Nice (2019) and the Structure and Preservation Rhinoplasty Conference in Istanbul (2024). He is a strong advocate for the deep plane facelift and the preservation facelift concept, which he has been incorporating into his practice for a number of years.

Surgical Training

RACS Specialist Training

Six years of specialist surgical training in Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, completed in Sydney. Training encompassed all aspects of otolaryngology, head and neck surgery including general ENT, head and neck oncology, rhinology, otology, laryngology, and paediatric ENT.

US Fellowship — Chicago

American Rhinologic Society-accredited fellowship in Advanced Rhinology and Facial Plastic Surgery, Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois. Twelve months encompassing advanced rhinology, skull base surgery, computer-guided sinus surgery, reconstructive rhinoplasty, and facial plastic surgery. During this period, Dr Roth prepared for and sat the International Federation of Facial Plastic Surgery examination, and spent time observing Professor Dean Toriumi — one of the most influential rhinoplasty surgeons of the modern era — whose approach to structural rhinoplasty directly shaped Dr Roth’s understanding of nasal framework reconstruction.

European Fellowship — Amsterdam

Facial Plastic Surgery Fellowship at the Academic Medical Center, Amsterdam, Netherlands, through the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery. Training with Professor Nolst Trenité, Professor Menger, Professor Vuyk, and Dr Lohuis across a broad range of rhinoplasty and facial reconstructive techniques. The European rhinoplasty tradition — with its emphasis on functional anatomy and conservative tissue handling — provided a complementary perspective to the North American structural approach.

Deep Plane Facelift Observership

Dedicated deep plane facelift and facial plastic surgery observership with Dr Neil Gordon, Connecticut, USA — a surgeon with extensive experience in the deep plane facelift technique. This hands-on observership directly informed Dr Roth’s adoption of the deep plane facelift as his primary facelift approach.

International Board Certification in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery

Completion of the International Federation of Facial Plastic Surgery examination in Washington DC, requiring submission of a surgical logbook documenting a substantial volume of facial plastic surgery cases, a peer-reviewed audit, and success in the formal written and oral examination. This certification is recognised internationally as a rigorous measure of competence in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Continuing Professional Development

The practice of surgery does not end with training. The fields of rhinoplasty and facial plastic surgery have evolved more rapidly over the past decade than in any comparable period in their history — driven by the preservation rhinoplasty movement, by improved anatomical understanding, by the global sharing of technique through video platforms, and by an increasingly open culture of peer exchange at national and international meetings. A surgeon who trained fifteen years ago and has not engaged actively with continuing education since is not practising contemporary surgery.

Dr Roth’s approach to continuing professional development is structured, regular, and genuinely motivated — not a box-ticking exercise but a genuine engagement with a field that continues to evolve in meaningful ways.

Continuing professional development is also a formal requirement. Under the Medical Board of Australia’s registration standards, all registered medical practitioners must meet mandatory CPD requirements. For specialist surgeons, this includes a minimum number of CPD hours per year across clinical activities, educational activities, and performance review. Dr Roth meets and exceeds these requirements across all categories.

The Australasian Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (AAFPS)

Dr Roth is a member of the Australasian Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery — the principal professional body for facial plastic surgery in Australia. His involvement encompasses a year-round commitment to the organisation, to the advancement of standards in facial plastic surgery in Australia, and to the education of trainees and established practitioners alike.

The centrepiece of the AAFPS educational calendar is the annual Masters Symposium — combining formal lectures and case presentations with hands-on cadaveric dissection sessions under the supervision of experienced faculty. Dr Roth has attended these symposia annually from 2013 to the present, with dissection sessions covering facelift and neck lift, rhinoplasty, and blepharoplasty in rotation.

Cadaveric dissection occupies an irreplaceable position in surgical education — providing a spatial and tactile understanding that no video, diagram, or written description can substitute for. Dr Roth has also participated in international cadaveric dissection through the Facial Anatomy and Training Symposium (FATS) in Thailand.

Dr Roth’s Clinical Perspective

Patients occasionally ask me to describe my practice in a sentence. The most accurate answer is that it is focused and high-volume. I perform a deliberately narrow range of procedures — rhinoplasty, deep plane facelift, neck lift, blepharoplasty, brow lift, and lip lift — and I perform them frequently. That combination of scope and repetition is the foundation of surgical judgement, and it is what I believe patients deserve from a surgeon they are trusting with a significant procedure.

The continuing education commitment described on this page is not supplementary to clinical practice — it is part of it. The fields of rhinoplasty and facelift surgery have changed substantially over the past decade and will continue to change. Staying current is not optional.
