All treatments carry risks and individual results vary. The outcomes shown in any images on this page are relevant only to the specific patient depicted and may not reflect the results that other patients may experience. Decisions about laser skin treatment should be made after careful consideration and consultation with a qualified medical practitioner.
In practice, the device creates tiny ablative “micro-injuries” in the epidermis and dermis, leaving surrounding tissue intact. These controlled micro-injuries trigger the skin’s natural healing response, driving new cell growth and collagen remodelling for smoother, tighter, healthier-looking skin.
UltraClear’s patented 3DIntelliPulse™ technology delivers blended cold ablative and thermal pulses into each treatment zone. This means each pass can simultaneously remove a bit of surface layer and deposit a small dose of heat, optimising collagen stimulation while minimising pain and bleeding.
Unlike older CO₂ lasers, UltraClear is designed for superior precision and safety; its high-repetition fibre delivery and small spot size eliminate erratic beam patterns for uniform coverage. Practitioners can adjust the intensity and mode depending on need – from a gentle fractional resurfacing to a deeper ablative peel, even up to full-thickness laser-tissue coring for severe wrinkles or lax skin. This versatility makes UltraClear effective on a wide range of concerns.
UltraClear may be considered for patients presenting with the following skin concerns, following a consultation and clinical assessment:
Whether UltraClear is appropriate for your skin type, concerns and circumstances will be assessed at consultation. Not all patients will be suitable candidates.
How Does UltraClear Work?
The device uses a 2,910 nm mid-infrared wavelength delivered through a cooled fibre. This wavelength is strongly absorbed by water in the skin, allowing precise ablation of skin tissue. The beam is delivered in rapid sub-pulses, which allows heat to dissipate between pulses and limits thermal spread to surrounding tissue.
The proprietary 3DIntelliPulse™ delivery system alternates ablative and coagulative energy within each micro-zone, meaning each microbeam both removes a small amount of surface tissue and deposits a controlled amount of heat into the deeper dermis. This is intended to stimulate collagen remodelling while limiting collateral thermal damage.
The device can be adjusted in energy, density and mode for each individual treatment, allowing settings to be tailored to the patient’s skin type and the clinical goals being addressed.
UltraClear offers several advantages over traditional resurfacing lasers.
Before Your Treatment
A consultation with Dr Roth is required before treatment to review your skin history, assess suitability, and discuss realistic expectations. In the days prior to treatment, excessive sun exposure and tanning should be avoided, and SPF50+ sunscreen should be used. Blood-thinning medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen should be discussed with Dr Roth in advance. Patients prone to cold sores should inform the practice so that appropriate antiviral management can be arranged.
On treatment day, arrive with clean, makeup-free skin.
During the Procedure
The skin will be cleansed and topical anaesthetic cream applied. Protective eyewear is worn throughout. The laser handpiece is passed over the treatment area — a full face session typically takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes. Patients generally describe the sensation as mild pinching or prickling. A cooling gel or mask is applied at the end of the session.
Recovery
Recovery varies depending on the treatment settings used and individual skin response.
• Lighter treatment settings:
Redness and mild swelling may subside within one to two days. Most patients can return to normal activities and apply makeup within 24 hours.
• More intensive treatment settings:
Plan for approximately seven to ten days of visible healing. Swelling and redness are most pronounced in the first two to three days, after which crusting resolves and new skin forms. Most patients can return to normal social activities after ten to fourteen days following intensive treatment.
Full skin remodelling and collagen production continues over several weeks to months following treatment. The timeline for visible improvement and the durability of results varies considerably between individuals and cannot be predicted with certainty.
After treatment, follow all post-procedure care instructions carefully. These include gentle cleansing, use of prescribed moisturising ointment, strict sun avoidance for at least two to four weeks, and use of SPF50+ sunscreen when outdoors. Harsh exfoliants, retinoids and active skincare ingredients should be avoided for approximately two weeks to allow healing.
All laser skin treatments carry risk. Potential side effects and complications associated with UltraClear treatment include:
Serious complications are uncommon but can occur. A full discussion of risks relevant to your individual circumstances will take place at consultation.
Patients with certain skin conditions, active skin infections, or who are pregnant or taking photosensitising medications may not be suitable candidates. This will be assessed at consultation.
